Gather & Make: Food and Dye Plant Forage (with Kitchen Sink) - April 30, 2022

Gather & Make: Food and Dye Plant Forage (with Kitchen Sink) - April 30, 2022
Join Erin of Berbo Studio and Kylie of Kitchen Sink for a food and dye foraging outing along the Arroyo Seco!
Spring is emerging, flowers are blooming, and greens are popping up – many of which are deliciously edible and/or potent with natural color. As we walk, we’ll identify and gather plants for eating and dyeing with regenerative, reciprocal foraging practices at front of mind. Together, among the fragrant sagebrush, shady oaks and flowering elders, we’ll prepare a light meal and unique natural dye project with what we’ve collected!
Erin will share about the plants she’s come to know that hold distinct dye potential, and we’ll create unique flower- and leaf-printed cotton bandanas utilizing a bundle-dyeing technique. Kylie will share about the edible plants around us, how she utilizes seasonal and commonly found plants (including many invasives) for flavor, and will craft a light meal and drinks for us to enjoy.
We’ll gather by the Arroyo Seco in South Pasadena, CA on Saturday, April 30 from 10am to 2pm. Specific location and details will be sent to attendees via email on the week leading up to the walk, so please ensure your email address is correct when checking out.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
