Kitchen Color at Tac-tile Mountain – July 1, 2023
Natural color is hiding in plain sight in so many culinary ingredients, in various potent herbs, and even in food waste. Learn how to detect, brew, and utilize natural dye potential in common foods and ingredients using similar tools and techniques you use when cooking in your home kitchen.
Join me for Kitchen Color, a workshop exploring the science, creativity, and utility of natural color from culinary sources. We’ll work with dyes of three distinct colors brewed from ingredients commonly found in farmer’s markets, grocery stores, and maybe even in your yard or garden (or your neighbor’s)—like pomegranate, rosemary, avocado, and more.
Each participant will dye two silk scarves with the culinary dyes du jour and will receive recipes and knowledge for replicating the process at home. Hosted at the lovely Tac-Tile Mountain (1353 N Hill Ave, Pasadena, CA 91104) in Pasadena, Saturday, July 1, 5 to 7pm.
Hope to see you there!
